" We had a wonderful time at Flansham Manor Cottage and would happily recommend both the location, property and Amberley House Cottage Holidays to our friends."
Mrs Ulrike Baker
" The cottage really lived up to our expectations. The surrounding area was quiet but with lots of walks. Not too far to drive to the beach and the owner was unobtrusively supportive, always there if she was needed. The garden was a delight, we have never stayed anywhere with such a large garden. All in all a very relaxing holiday, I have already recommended the cottage to a friend."
J Yhnell
" My wife and I had a lovely week. The owner was very helpful and showed us around the cottage. Even left us a bottle of wine. Overall the cottage was lovely and homely. We hope to go back again next year. Area was peaceful and quite. Just right for a relaxing holiday. The photos and description in the brochure was exactly right. Even our dog enjoyed walking around the garden."

This has to be one of the quietest and most unspoilt hamlets to be found in Sussex, yet it is within close proximity to Bognor Regis, along with the beaches found at Middleton-on- Sea immediately to the south and the popular beach at Climping that is within a five minute drive to the east.

Flansham Manor Cottage is next door to the manor house in the heart of this quaint little hamlet. It is a tastefully converted single storey Sussex flint cottage that offers exceptional space for two people. Being originally a stable building it is laid out in a line. The entrance through a wide stable door steps into the comfortable lounge area, which leads on to a fully equipped bright and spacious kitchen and dining area. The cottage has a good-sized double bedroom and a modern fitted shower room. It also enjoys its own patio area along with a large private garden to the side that provides you with a good mixture of both sun and shade.

Flansham and beyond

As we have mentioned Flansham is a beautifully unspoilt hamlet found along a quiet lane and is very close to the sea.

The popular beach at Climping, which is probably the most accessible, is an area of special scientific interest and stretches for a couple of miles. On the eastern end is West Beach that meets with the estuary of the River Arun at Littlehampton. At the top of the beach is the West Beach Café constructed from locally sourced materials by local craftsmen. It comes highly recommended for its fish and chips!

Chichester the cathedral city of Sussex is no more than five miles from the cottage. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close by to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre productions, many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.

Five miles northeast of Flansham on the River Arun is the historic market town of Arundel dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. The town makes an imposing site when approached from the south. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tearooms. It’s a great place to wander and just enjoy its hospitality.
There is always much to see and do in Sussex and staying so near the coast gives the best of both; beaches very close by and an easy springboard back inland to explore the South Downs, a great area to walk.
