Overlooking open farmland and woodland with an outlook onto neighbouring fields where cattle or sheep graze, this ground floor cottage is the perfect base for visiting events, attractions and friends.
It is both spacious and very comfortable and that feeling of space extends into the garden when you step through the French doors from the living room onto a secluded private terrace and the well tended garden provided for your enjoyment. So although the cottage is so central for much that Sussex has to offer it is also perfect for when you want to just take stock, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings that you will find here.
Willow Cottage is well equipped, the double bedroom has good space and overlooks the garden and open fields, a refreshing outlook to wake up to. The bathroom is fitted with both a bath and a sizeable separate shower cubicle, which is unusual for a cottage that sleeps two, while the kitchen is fully equipped and not cramped containing a small breakfast table which is in addition to the dining table found in the living room.
Wineham and beyond
Wineham is perfectly placed to enjoy almost everything there is to see and do in Sussex and why restrict yourself to just Sussex?. Haywards Heath is only six miles to the east for main rail links into London giving you the choice to enjoy a day or evening in the capital while you visit this most beautiful county.
Staying in Wineham is more about life in the country than village life. The village is spread along a country lane with a variety of rural properties along its course. The heart of any village is the local pub and the Royal Oak, which was featured in the Times best pub gardens, in August 2009, is less than a mile from the cottage.
Many gardens are in close proximity, with Borde Hill Gardens, Nymans, Wakehurst Place, High Beeches Gardens and Leonardslee Gardens all within a very short drive. You will find information on these gardens listed under our ‘Places to visit’. On an equestrian theme, Hickstead is also very close by and if you visit in June, the South Of England Show held at the Ardingly Showground , is within nine miles.
To the south the Downs beckon and provide wonderful walking opportunities whether along the South Downs Way itself or by taking to the many paths that cross the Downs from north to south. Head due south from Wineham and you reach Devils Dyke, probably the most famous downland feature along the whole of the South Downs. Immediately south from Devils Dyke you come to Brighton with everything such a vibrant multi cultural city has to offer.
Here is just an introduction on what to see and do, then alternatively of course you can always just relax at Willow Cottage!
