A wonderful ‘chocolate box’ cottage that offers cosy and comfortable accommodation in beautiful and quiet gardens that look south east across the Sussex High Weald. Not only does Coombe Tye Garden Cottage enjoy such a peaceful setting, but guests also have all year use of the owner’s heated indoor swimming pool located just across the lawn.

The cottage has one bedroom with both the living room and bedroom enjoying a bright south easterly aspect over the gardens. The terrace is interspersed through the day with dappled shade making an appealing and comfortable outside area from which to relax, enjoy breakfast and evening meals.

Set within the grounds of the owner’s home and located in an elevated position just to the south of the market town of East Grinstead, Garden Cottage is well placed to visit many of the visitor attractions found in the north of the Sussex Weald. It comes comprehensively equipped with separate bathroom and kitchen for a comfortable stay and conveys a relaxing ‘home from home’ feel, cosy and comfortable.

East Grinstead and beyond

Drop down the hill and a mile away is the market town of East Grinstead with its traditional wide street and shops that have been very much retained at the southern end of the town.

This area of Sussex offers excellent access to many well known visitor attractions. The National Trust property at Standen is within three miles of Coombe Tye Garden Cottage. The Victorian house inspired by the architect Philip Webb and his friend William Morris is tucked away at the end of a quiet Sussex lane and offers stunning views over the High Weald towards the Weir Wood Resevoir. A visit here can easily keep you occupied for a day.

Shortly to complete its route through to East Grinstead, the Bluebell Railway will soon pass within a mile of the cottage and no doubt steam trains will be heard from the nearby Imberhorne cutting! At the moment the line terminates at Kingscote a small hamlet two miles to the south. Take the railway south through Horsted Keynes to Sheffield Park and visit Sheffield Park Gardens an internationally renowned garden and parkland also owned by the National Trust. Other nearby attractions are Wakehurst Place, home to the Millennium Seed Bank, Nymans House and Gardens and High Beeches. All are within a twenty minute drive of Garden Cottage.
