Whether a Brighton city break or a valued week away, this boutique holiday let is a classic

In the heart of Brighton’s North Laines and just a five minute stroll from the Royal Pavilion, Brighton Dome and the Brighton theatres, the Pelham Boutique House is in the perfect place to enjoy this colourful and cosmopolitan city.

The house is in a small tree lined square just off the Laines giving a peaceful setting yet right in the heart of this fashionable area of Brighton. The house is superbly presented over three floors and is a very restful home for up to four people. The main sitting room occupies the whole of the ground floor giving plenty of space in which to relax. Downstairs the basement has been beautifully converted to provide a traditional kitchen with butler sink, a range oven and a separate dining area making an overall good social space.

The stairs to the basement are quite steep so we advise that the accommodation is not suitable where there are children under four years of age.

The two bedrooms are on the first floor. The main bedroom has a super-king sized six foot bed while the second bedroom is fitted with a four foot double bed. We say the house is suitable for up to four people since a four foot bed might not suit some couples. There is however a sofa bed in the living room downstairs that can be made available. Also on the first floor there is a wet room shower room and there is also a cloakroom on the ground floor.

The Boutique House enjoys a private walled rear garden that gives you your own small oasis in the heart of the city.

Brighton and beyond

The advantage of staying at Pelham Boutique House is you don’t need a car. The house is just 300 metres from the mainline station and sits amongst the popular bars, restaurants and boutique shops of the North Laines, an area of Brighton that has gained in popularity over recent years..

Brighton and Hove is one of the most vibrant, colourful and creative cities you will find. It is cosmopolitan, compact, and energetic - it's a city like no other.

Nestling between the South Downs and the sea on the stunning south coast, Brighton offers everything from Regency heritage to beachfront cool. It offers a fantastic mix of iconic attractions, famed nightlife, award winning restaurants, funky arts, culture and year round festivals and events. Its two most famous attractions are probably the Royal Pavilion, the spectacular seaside palace of the Prince Regent (George IV) and ‘Brighton Pier' with its Victorian history and period and modern entertainment, both of which are within half a mile of Pelham Boutique House.

Close by the other famous ‘Lanes' historic quarter is an intricate maze of twisting alleyways, offering an extraordinary mix of history and heritage lingering amidst the antique, jewellery, boutique fashion and design shops.

A recent addition on the shoreline and right next to both the pier and the Sea Life Centre is the Brighton Ferris Wheel. A trip on the 45 metre (197 foot) wheel is a must, offering fabulous views over the city and beyond to the South Downs as well as a great outlook along the coast especially towards Rottingdean and Beachy Head.

The South Downs provide a magnificent backdrop to Brighton and in the summer can easily be reached by bus from Brighton Pier.

Devil's Dyke is one of the famous landmarks on the South Downs Way and although the Dyke is actually a V shaped valley the tourist attraction that bears its name at the top offers outstanding views across the Sussex Weald and westwards along the line of the Downs towards Truleigh Hill and Chanctonbury Ring. It is an area that is popular with both hang gliders and para gliders so is often buzzing with activity.

Journey a couple of miles east along the South Downs Way and you reach the Jack and Jill Windmills that are set atop the Downs above Clayton. Jill is a post mill built in the early nineteenth century while Jack is a five storey tower mill. The two mills worked together as a pair for a number of years and remain in remarkable condition. From the top there are again spectacular views across the Sussex Weald and as the scarp slope of the Downs falls away sharply here, it makes for a stunning vantage point.

We feel that a stay at Pelham Boutique House offers the best of both worlds, the buzz of Brighton with the splendour of the South Downs such a short distance away.
