Julian, Debbie, Rebecca and myself would like to take the opportunity of wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
We have many guests enjoying a Sussex holiday cottage over Christmas this year whether gathering to see family or to just enjoy this beautiful part of southern England at this festive time. A cosy Sussex cottage with roaring fire is appealing at the best of times but particularly when it is especially decorated for the festive period. Step back hundreds of years and a Sussex Christmas was always spent with immediate family and maybe also with a few villagers when much merriment would have been had.
If you are with us in Sussex for a Christmas holiday why not step back in time and experience the traditions of Christmas gone by and learn about how our ancestors enjoyed the festive season.
A Sussex Christmas is at the Weald and Downland Museum near to Chichester between 26 December 2011 and 1 January 2012. Take a post Christmas pudding stroll and take a look at some traditionally decorated houses with crackling log fires, with many decorated for Christmas in the style of the period when they were originally built. Plus there's also a variety of festive fare, music and stories from Tudor to Victorian times.
The Museum enjoys a truly beautiful setting in the heart of the South Downs, it is worth a visit.
