The inaugural Eastbourne Cycling Festival will be held over the weekend of 21 and 22 May 2011. Eastbourne has become a terrific holiday venue for young people as evidenced by both the AEGON International Tennis held in June and the Eastbourne Airborne in August.
The cycling festival will further showcase the town. It sounds a really exciting event with road races starting and finishing in front of the Grand Hotel on the Eastbourne seafront.
There will be closed road circuits around the town along with a closed road circuit around Beachy Head for serious climbers. The Tour de France and the sprint achievements of Mark Cavendish have contributed hugely to the increasing popularity of cycling in the UK and with the backdrop of Eastbourne and Beachy Head should make the festival really popular.
