February half term in Sussex

Amberley Museum, West Sussex

With half term coming along this month, are you joining us in Sussex for a week's holiday - click here to check our late availability? Sussex has so much to do for all the family that you'll have a job fitting it all in. Stay in one of our cosy cottages on the South Downs, choose a family house near the sea or a swish apartment in one of our cosmopolitan coastal towns, and you'll be within easy reach of a wide variety of attractions.

One of our favourites is Amberley Working Museum, which this month hosts its opening weekend, with special offers on tickets. As well as the brilliant exhibits and working crafts you'll get a preview of what's going to be on offer for the season ahead, and I'm sure you'll want to come back for more.

Specially for half term, why not take the kids along to the Cats' Protection centre at Chelwood Gate to become qualified bug-spotters on a special nature trail? It's right in the heart of our wonderful Ashdown Forest, so there are plenty of options for walks, views and of course afternoon tea in the area. Whether you're staying in one of our holiday cottages on the Ashdown Forest or you're visiting from another part of Sussex, I think you'll have a lovely day out. We have properties with space for your friends and relatives too, so why not make it a group holiday?

One quick caution for dog-walkers: it seems there's been a spillage of palm oil that's washed up in various places along the south coast, so if you're walking your dog on the beach please take care, as it's toxic to dogs.

For beautiful walks, at this time of year you might be lucky and see a carpet of snow drops - I hesitate to sound too certain, because with the weather doing its own thing you never quite know when they'll be at their best. But places I can recommend for potential, and in any case for a lovely stroll, include Wakehurst Place and Petworth Park in Sussex; and just over the county borders, there's Hever Castle in Kent, Gatton Park over near Reigate and Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming, all of which are within easy reach of many of our Sussex holiday properties.
