The legendary E-Type Jaguar celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2011 and has been seen in Sussex already, and is still to come to Sussex in real style!
One of my 'scouts' informs me, the owner of Keesha House in Eastbourne East Sussex, that BBC Top Gear were filming with the E-Type at Beachy Head over the weekend for the series to be broadcast in the autumn. It is a fantastic backdrop and great road for such a legendary car running parallel with the chalk cliffs and sweeping behind the Belle Tout Lighthouse before heading west towards Birling Gap.
The Jaguar E-Type will then be back and centre stage at both the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival Meeting later in the summer. At the Festival of Speed it will form the central feature in front of Goodwood House, I am sure it will be a breathtaking display that will again be designed by Gerry Judah who has designed every central feature at the Festival of Speed since 1997.
In September the celebrations will culminate at the Goodwood Revival with a strong presence of E-Types and a special E-Type Jaguar only race, the Fordwater Trophy which will be a 45 minute two-driver race.
If you are an admirer of the Jaguar E-Type, love classic cars and motorsport generally, it's not too late to come down to Sussex. We still have available accommodation for both events close by, or why not just browse our whole portfolio of Sussex holiday cottages and homes. You can read about both events on our What's On pages.
