Did you know that reindeer are good swimmers? Or that reindeer and caribou are the same creature? Well now you do - happy Christmas! I can also reveal that the reindeer at Knockhatch Adventure Park, near Hailsham, are being kept in tip-top condition by a team of Sussex vets in preparation for their festive sleigh-pulling duties.
Knockhatch would be a great place to take the kids in the Christmas holidays, with its fab range of activities from falconry to animal encounters, animal-keeper experiences and loads of animal-based entertainment for the tinies too. Parties can be catered for, so if you've brought the extended family (or 'Rabbit's Friends and Relations', as Winnie-the-Pooh would have it) to one of our holiday homes for large groups (click here to view), this could be a good one to book. And just along the road is the Knockhatch Ski and Snowboard Centre, which offers activities for beginners and experts alike, so if you're having a holiday near Eastbourne you'll certainly not be short of things to do.
In fact in the Hailsham area alone there's so much to choose from, with the Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux, which is open for two weekends each in December and January and is another venue that can cater for parties; golf and tennis (even at this time of year!) at Windmill Hill; the Old Loom Mill craft centre in the town... well I could go on, but you'll get the drift by now. I can well imagine that one or two members of your group might like to disappear for a day's golf in the lovely Sussex air. And of course if you come back in the summer, Herstmonceux Castle and its beautiful grounds will be a major attraction for all ages.
We have a great range of holiday properties near Eastbourne and Hastings that would be ideally placed for these Sussex attractions. The area's equally accessible from the South Downs and other parts of East Sussex, so we've plenty of accommodation options for you to choose from - click here to view!
