Rye, Winchelsea and Camber Sands

The seaside town of Rye is a rich maritime maze of cobbled streets and historic buildings. It is an elevated and very pretty compact town that looks south to Rye Harbour and east along the English Channel towards Dungeness.

Many holiday cottages in Rye tend to be very quaint and pretty, housed in old medieval buildings or converted fishermen’s houses. Rye was once directly on the coast. Cottages in Rye are right besides the town’s fascinating museums and castles, restaurants and pubs. Mermaid Street is very famous in Rye, and our self catering holiday cottages allow you to enjoy the restaurants and bars around the town while creating your itinerary around your holiday requirements.

Barely two miles south of Rye, Rye Harbour is a fascinating small fishing and leisure harbour and also a nature reserve full of wildlife for you to discover. Holiday cottages here are just perfect for those that love the sea and nature. Many visit from London for short break holidays since the cottages here are easily accessible from Ashford International Railway Station.

The area surrounding Rye is a great place for walking, cycling and horse riding during your cottage holiday vacation. The beautiful village of Winchelsea is two miles to the south west and is where the marshland meets the sea. It feels just like Rye in miniature. This is another wonderful destination to enjoy a cottage holiday,

Camber Sands is the perfect holiday getaway with unspoilt views of sand and sea stretching along to the county boundary with Kent. Camber is famous for its miles of sandy Blue Flag beaches, just perfect for family beach holidays and only a short distance from the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway. It has stunning views across Romney Marsh. Holiday cottages in Camber are all close to the sea, so provide an ideal base for beach walks and dog friendly cottage holidays where fresh air and open spaces for pets are in abundance.

There are so many other seaside attractions available when staying in a holiday cottage in Camber or Rye such as windsurfing, kitesurfing or fishing trips from Rye Harbour. From the local fish markets, fresh fish and seafood can be purchased straight from the boat!

Book a luxury holiday cottage or a family seaside break, and while in Rye or Camber, East Sussex visit the historic 1066 country at nearby Battle which provides a fascinating insight into the culture and history of this area.
