Holiday cottage, Chichester, West Sussex
Beautiful holiday home in a beautiful location
"We had a wonderful week away at Apple Barn. Super location for Chichester and made even better by fantastic and friendly hosts. "
Third time stay
"This was iur third time staying at Apple Barn. We love the location, really peaceful and quiet in the middle of farmland. While we love the location it's expensive for what it is e .g only a relatively small TV and no separate freezer. The owners are welcoming and friendly and quickly came to help when we had a problem with flying ants! I would recommend this property to anyone "
Quiet retreat in the country
"We enjoyed the hospitality offered by the Apple Barn. It provided two couples with ample space, modern conveniences and an idyllic setting with surrounding farm. It was a bit difficult for us to find, but our hostess talked us through and provided a warm welcome as well as great recommendations for shopping and places to eat. We enjoyed the Walnet Tree Inn twice in the week."
Relaxing and enjoyable
"We found Apple Barn to be well designed, well equipped and spotless. Situated in a quiet location, it was a delight to wake up to countryside views after a good night's sleep. It was equipped to a high standard - I don't think anything had been overlooked. The accommodation is located near the owner's home and we found them friendly and helpful. There is an excellent, well stocked farm shop to be found about 10 minutes walk away for supplies. All in all a perfect place to stay."
Vaulted ceilings, a modern living space and luxury holiday accommodation has been created from this very clever barn conversion. Apple Barn enjoys a tranquil and remote setting yet is within just a ten minute drive of Chichester city centre. It is set along a private road next to the owners’ home and is right in the heart of open farmland and just two miles north of the famous Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve.
The large living and dining room is central to the barn featuring exposed oak beams. It is a bright airy room that faces to the south. The kitchen fitted with oak units is comprehensively equipped. Being open plan to the living room it too conveys really good space.
At opposite ends of the barn are the two bedroom suites. The principal bedroom has a king sized bed along with a spacious ensuite bathroom with modern bath tub. The second bedroom has twin zip linked beds and can be configured as a twin room or into a super king sized double room. The bathroom suite contains a power shower above the bath. The barn is heated throughout by underfloor heating making it very cosy indeed.
Outside there is a private patio and garden enjoying the outlook across open farmland to the south.
Apple Barn is on the edge of the small village of Runcton. It is just a short stroll over the fields to the local farm shop a leisurely walk many guests enjoy to pick up some very locally grown provisions. The area around here is beautifully rural and flat yet look to the north and you easily see the slopes of the South Downs in the direction of Goodwood.
Runcton is a small village barely two miles from the cathedral city of Chichester. It is also right beside the utter tranquillity of Pagham and Pagham Harbour a couple of miles to the south.
This part of the coastline is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife with Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour a little further to the west both being areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor, Bosham, Dell Quay and Emsworth. Between these harbours there are beaches at Selsey and the Witterings, the latter offering unrivalled views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
Chichester the cathedral city of Sussex is within two miles. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.
The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close by to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre production many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.
There is always much to see and do in Sussex and staying in Runcton gives the best of both; a city close by and an easy springboard inland to explore the South Downs or for visiting the very popular Goodwood events.
