Visit to Cuckfield
"We had a first experience which was really good and bring us to make some more reservations . This last time we found a few things not as clean as first time so I let them know and the customer service is very profesional and responding immediately. We hope we will find the cottage in our next visit as excellent as first time. Its a very peaceful place. "
Escape in the countryside
"What a great place to stay with friends or family. It's clean, well equipped, and that little farm shop next to it gives it that extra touch of feel goodness. Accessing to the property (road, or shall I say path) could be better but it is located behind a farm so I guess it is expected to be so. I'd stay again without a doubt. "
Week long break
"We were looking for a comfortable base from which to explore the south downs and coast. It was a very convenient location to do this and Cuckfield has good pubs, shops etc. The property is spacious (for two bedrooms) and we'll laid out downstairs for 'chilled' living. Would recommend and stay again. All comments in the visitors book are complementary. "
Building fit up and equipment of highest standard
"We were only a week in the granary during an extended house hunting trip, and frankly wished it had been more The conversion has been done to the highest standards resulting in a very comfortable and stress less stay I have no negatives to share with future visitors, and I would say that this would work for durations of a week or up to a few months with no probelems"
"We are so happy about our stay in Granary, Absolutely EVERYTHING was perfect. We even extended our stay and already booked for other long stay next year. A special thanks to the Amberley house cottage booking team for their support, availability and kindness."
Thank you for your very generous comments. To extend your stay and to book again is the perfect endorsement, so it is really satisfying to hear this. We shall look forward to seeing you next time.
"It is a stylish property and generally well equipped but a few things spoiled it for us: running out of hot water when using the shower, pillows weren't comfortable and we were disappointed that the log burner could not be enjoyed from any of the sofas. When we arrived, the upstairs needed clearing of umpteen flies, dead and alive. However, it was great to be able to walk out into the countryside and village and we loved Cuckfield."
We are sorry to read you found problems at the Granary. Thank you for alerting us regarding the hot water, we will make a precautionary check. We can assure you the hot water tank is correct for the size of the building and it is often a case of supply and demand, which we did encounter on one previous occasion when showers and baths were all taken at once following guests attending a local outside festival! Under such circumstances it can take a short while for water to come back up to temperature. The pillows are all of good quality and are supplied by the White Company. We accept though that comfort tends to be very much a personal thing and we're sorry if these pillows weren't to your liking. The log burner is as advertised on the website as being located in the main kitchen area and the property is otherwise heated very well throughout. We apologise that you encountered some flies. The Granary was prepared the day before you arrived and the owner delivered the welcome pack to you just prior to your arrival where she thoroughly checked the accommodation for you. She did not report anything untoward but we are sorry that you had to deal with them. The accommodation is next to a small arable farm and the weather continues to remain mild at the moment. However we are pleased that this aside you thoroughly enjoyed the local area.
"Cuckfield Granary is a beautiful barn conversion turned into a very well equipped and comfortable holiday home. All fixtures and fittings are of an excellent standard and everything is pristine and tastefully done. We enjoyed our week visiting family in Sussex and seeing the sights. Cuckfield is a pretty village and had all the basics we needed as well as being in a good position for touring. Would stay again."
Our 5th stay
"Already stayed 5 times and looking to book twice more in 2017. This is a lovely property well converted from it's original status as a granary, in a peaceful spot but near to village facilities."
7 weeks at the Granary
"We had a relatively long stay of 7 weeks whilst our home was being refurbished locally. We found the Granary to be very well equipped and comfortable. Its in a quiet position with lovely views.Full marks for the comfortable beds and good quality towels. We particularly appreciated the welcoming touches on arrival day.We felt we had chosen wisely and would recommend the Granary as a very good place to stay."
There are photographs on the wall that record the conversion from a totally dilapidated farm building into this wonderful ground and first floor granary that welcomes you. In a private setting at the end of a long unmade lane, Cuckfield Granary sits amongst a small organic farm and offers many walks from the doorstep and is just a short stroll into the picturesque mid Sussex town of Cuckfield.
One of the highlights of the granary is the first floor terrace and the panoramic views it offers towards the South Downs in the distance. It is presented to an exceptional standard. The kitchen is a wonderful social space with a woodburning stove and relaxing sofa. The two upstairs bedrooms each have their own facilities with a bath and hand held shower attachment to the main bedroom and an ensuite shower room to the second bedroom. Both bedrooms are doubles, with the principal bedroom containing a king sized bed, and the second bedroom a standard sized double.
There is also a sofa bed in the living room should extra flexibility be required for guests. Please let us know if you will require the sofa bed so that the housekeepers will know to leave out the bed linen.
Outside you will enjoy the terrace. Perfect for meals on those lazy summer days!
Cuckfield is one of the prettiest small towns in Sussex. Being so central in the county it is ideally situated to explore much that Sussex has to offer. Within two miles Borde Hill Gardens have been described by Country Life magazine as one of the country’s truly great gardens. The gardens offer outstanding views across 200 acres of Grade II listed parkland and woodland.
Head north into the rolling Sussex Weald and you soon reach Ardingly Reservoir . It is a large expanse of natural water and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are plentiful walks around the reservoir and for those who enjoy watersports it is a haven of activity for sailors, windsurfers and canoeists.
Access to and from this part of mid Sussex is excellent with other gardens such as Nymans and High Beeches just a few miles to the north and Wakehurst Place with its close association with Kew is within a fifteen minute drive to the east. With good communication links to Brighton, both the south coast and the South Downs are a short distance away while a day trip to London by rail is so easy from nearby Haywards Heath.
