Enjoy outstanding views to the Sussex coastline from this luxuriously updated traditional worker's cottage in the heart of Arundel

Jasmine Cottage is the last cottage in a line of individual terraced cottages once owned by the Duke of Norfolk Estate that were used to house workers during the construction of Arundel Cathedral. From the front they all appear the same, but internally each one is different. This three bedroom cottage sleeps six over three floors. The principal bedroom on the top floor has the most outstanding views from three sides over Arundel and to the English Channel beyond.

The cottage is wonderfully central yet in a very quiet part of this historic town, so the cathedral and castle are a short stroll away.

You enter the cottage via a small lobby, which is the ideal place to leave outdoor shoes. The cosy sitting room is at the front of the cottage, with windows on two sides making it very bright and airy. There is a large high definition television with Blu-Ray player and a music player to provide family entertainment. Beyond the sitting room is a dining room, making the ideal location for meals at home if you are not tempted to eat out in one of Arundel's varied selection of restaurants. The dining room has a large wood burning stove, just right for creating winter cosiness throughout the cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped, and has a double oven range style cooker, so eating in will prove to be a pleasure.

On the first floor of Jasmine Cottage you will find a double and a twin bedroom, along with the state of the art bathroom. This has been fitted to the highest modern standards, with a large wetroom style shower and a free standing bath in which to luxuriate.

On the top floor of the cottage is a truly fantastic principal bedroom. With windows to three sides, it has views up to the cathedral and in the opposite direction over the rooftops and towards the sea. This bedroom is vaulted with feature LED lighting to enhance the appearance of the ceiling at night. The chimney breasts from the rooms below make an interesting feature in this room, with the king sized bed immediately in front of them. There is a large television with Blu-Ray player in this bedroom for those who like to watch films in bed. Going to sleep and waking up again in this bedroom is bound to be a pleasure.

To the front of the cottage there is a small terrace area, which makes a great sun trap and a lovely spot to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea. There is also a small terrace on the side of the cottage looking over a wide grassy area. These lawns do not belong to Jasmine Cottage, but form a delightful backdrop, particularly in the afternoon when the sun gets round to that side. Unallocated on street parking is provided to the front of the cottage and nearby.

For guests looking for an extended family gathering we can also offer Daisy Cottage which sleeps five and is next door to Jasmine Cottage. Click here to see full details of Daisy Cottage. If both cottages are booked together a reduction of 10% will be applied to the rental cost. Also nearby is Rose Cottage which sleeps up to three people. Arundel and beyond

Arundel is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tearooms. It’s a great place to wander and just enjoy its hospitality.

Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. Climbing the 131 steps to the Keep which dates from the 11th century to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs is definitely worth the effort.

Beyond the castle grounds Arundel Park extends north towards the Downs offering many fine walks. A two mile walk to the top affords fantastic downland views and south to the coast.

The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds, Arundel Wetland Trust attracts some of the worlds most spectacular ducks, geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the Black Rabbit pub or proceeding further north where the river hugs the scarp wooded slope at the foot of the Downs before reaching Amberley.

Further afield Arundel is well placed for the coast. Climping Beach and Littlehampton’s West Beach are only a short drive away. This is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest and at the eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach Café built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally. It is worth a visit, the fish and chips come highly recommended!

Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well.

If you fancy a day in the city, Arundel mainline station is on a direct route to London so why not mix the cosmopolitan capital with this beautiful part of Sussex.

Christmas 2018

"A fantastic welcome to the property for our family Christmas; wreath on the door, tasteful decorations in the lounge and a Christmas tree complete with lights and decorations in the dining room. The property was well maintained, spotlessly clean and tidy, generously equipped, comfortable and homely."

3 night stay for the Goodwood Revival

"Booked via Amberley House Cottages who are very professional and communication is excellent. www.amberleyhousecottages.co.uk A thoroughly enjoyable stay at Jasmine cottage just a few minutes walk from the centre of Arundel. A wonderful town just a 20/25 minute drive in to Goodwood. Arundel is a great place to stay as it offers many good restaurants and bars (some with live music). All within a few minutes walk from the cottage. Jasmine cottage is an end of terrace property with south and west facing terraces, it is freshly decorated, neat and tidy and everything available in terms of a home from home stay. A well equipped kitchen should you wish to ready the pots and pans (we didn't) as ate at India Gate and The China Palace (both highly recommendable) but everything available to prep a breakfast before departing for the Revival. www.goodwood.com Would highly recommend this property for a short stay for exploring Arundel and it's beautiful castle and grounds or attending the many events at Goodwood. Stay a little longer for visiting and seeing more of the south coast - good value, very nice accommodation! "

A lovely place; shame about the door and one bathroom!

"The difficulty in locking and unlocking the front door does need to be addressed quickly. Security is a key aspect. We were unable to get the main oven to work; fortunately there was the second oven. As others have commented, there is a real need for a second bathroom in a property that could have six people in it. One toilet and bathroom is not adequate; when there were three adults it was difficult enough. Otherwise it was a lovely property and place to stay. We had a lovely holiday"

Beautiful three bedroomed cottage in Arundel.

"The cottage is really well located, in a quiet residential area just a short walk through picturesque Arundel to the village centre. The village offer some lovely restaurants and several charming pubs as well as the spectacular castle and cathedral. The cottage was perfect for our stay, well-proportioned and well appointed. We had plenty of room for our party of five. The kitchen was very well kitted-out so it was a pleasure to self-cater there and the two small outdoor terraces were wonderful in the fine weather. The cottage was immaculately clean and I would very happily return there for my next trip to Arundel. Having spent a long time looking for accomodation for our holiday, I strongly recommend Jasmine Cottage "

Family stay

"We stayed here for Goodwood FOS as easy drive from Arundel. A sweet little cottage, the second time we have stayed here, the first was in 2016 and the cottage still looks and feels fresh. Both times were outside the main school holidays and although we managed to park in the road in front most days, there were a couple of occasions we had to park on a different road. "

Nice cottage in superb location, poor parking

"Very pleasant cottage in perfect location of Arundel. On the negative side, the provision of a single bathroom with integral wc caused logistic issues especially early when getting ready for Goodwood. Parking 1/2 mile away was also problematic, both due to getting soaked when collecting car and also security of items inside which could not be left at the circuit. The above said a pleasant stay."

Very nice cottage in an absolutely stunning location. One toilet: is not sufficient.

"Beautiful cottage, modernized to current standards. Location is superb. One major drawback: there is only one bathroom, and the only toilet is in that bathroom. This is really not sufficient for a family of 6. I would strongly advise to add another toilet/bathroom."

"This property is pretty high end but at a reasonable price. Stunning close up views of the Cathedral and the farmland stretching to the coast, from the top bedroom. Clean and comfortable accommodation in good lication

"I have emailed already to say we had a lovely stay, cottage was well equipped, clean and in a good location. We will definitely return but would ask that a hand rail is added to the top floor as both my daughter and I fell down the stairs and whilst we didn't have any serious injuries, we both still have cuts and bruises"

We are so sorry to read that you and your daughter had a fall on the stairs but are relieved you were not injured as a consequence. We are glad that otherwise you enjoyed your stay and would like to return at some time in the future.
