Great house in lovely location

"We were very pleased with Little Timbers, which was everything we expected and more. We loved the unusual 'older' parts of the house with modernisation where it's needed. The kitchen, bathroom and furnishings are all clean and fresh. Great to have Wifi and the new TV was an added bonus. Lovely to have plenty of space and storage in a holiday house. The house, gardens, estate and beach all make this a unique holiday home."

"We loved staying at Little Timbers. The property has so much charm and is in a lovely location, close to the beach. The garden space was great for the kids. We would go back."

Location wonderful

"The location was exactly as promised - a very short walk to the beach with lots of places of interest nearby. The gardens were beautifully kept and lovely to sit out in on a warm day. The house was generally good: bedrooms comfortable, kitchen and bathroom had been updated but we felt the rest needed a bit of tic - new curtains and a lick of paint. Would have liked the house to have been warmed up a bit - it is only March and it was very cold. One of the radiators in the living room wasn't working."

Enjoyed our stay

"Some of the decor is a little "tired" but that didn't cause us any concern. The house s clean, tidy, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The garden is pleasant and well kept. The house is very close to the private beach - about 250 yards - cross the road take the immediate left and walk down to where the road turns left - at that corner there is a narrow alleyway that takes you straight to the beach. The house is about 5/10 minutes from Bognor Pier and town centre by car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - be warned there are two entry roads to the estate and one is gated and can only be opened by residents. Only complaint is that it could do with brighter light bulbs in the long (we like to read in the evenings)."

Very good stay in Little Timbers

"We enjoyed our stay at Little Timbers, the estate and private beach being one of its selling points. The house was really well equipped although we felt it could benefit further from modernisation inside as some of the decor and technology was quite out dated, particularly the lack of plug sockets and the old CRT TV. The bathroom door didn't lock and we felt this should be repaired. However it was great having a dishwasher, washing machine and WiFi . The gardens were gorgeous and we enjoyed a BBQ as we were very lucky with the hot weather during our stay"

Other Reviews

"Lovely stay at little timbers. Perfect location to access the beach and nice garden for relaxing in. Property was well equipped. We had an enjoyable stay."

"Fantastic location for a family holiday - a quiet tree-lined road of beautiful houses and gardens yet so near to the beach and walking distance of village shops for everyday needs. The garden was a real asset. The kitchen equipment was comprehensive - even down to a teacosy, which is a rarity nowadays. There was an excellent drying cupboard and plenty of hot water."

Perfect for a family holiday, this wonderful West Sussex beach house sits in a relaxing and private garden

A mere 150 metres from the beach and enjoying wonderful private gardens on a private bay estate, Little Timbers is the perfect home to enjoy a relaxing family break at any time during the year. Built in the 1930's and often known as a 'Hansel and Gretel' cottage through its appearance the house offers very comfortable accommodation for six guests. It forms part of the beautiful and private Aldwick Bay Estate that adjoins a private beach between Bognor Regis and Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve.

Little Timbers certainly catches the eye. The striking sun room on the front terrace provides a perfect space for morning coffee and the upstairs verandah adds light and space to a striking principal bedroom. The main living room which sits behind the sun room is a great and light space for six people to relax in comfort. In summer though the gardens will appeal, professionally maintained in keeping with the whole estate, we know guests will want to enjoy their time outside as long as they can and especially as the beach is so close by.

The three bedrooms are all upstairs. The principal bedroom to the front has a double bed while the second bedroom overlooking the rear garden has twin beds. Bedroom three is fitted with adult bunk beds. Both the second and third bedroom also have their own wash basins. The family bathroom is fitted with a large shower bath and there is a cloakroom downstairs as well. During the summer an outside toilet is also available for guests to use.

Aldwick and beyond

The Aldwick Bay Estate is adjacent to a private beach in Aldwick. It offers a relaxed setting which appears caught in a peaceful time capsule between the bustle of Bognor Regis three miles to the east and the utter tranquility of Pagham and Pagham Harbour a mile or two to the west. This part of the coastline is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife with Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour a little further to the west both being areas of outstanding natural beauty. Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor and Bosham. Between these harbours there are also beaches at Selsey and the Witterings, so a choice of other fine beaches is not far from Little Timbers.

Chichester the cathedral city of Sussex is not more than five miles away. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre production many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.
