Wonderful week away in sunny Hastings

"Overall this is lovely property, we loved the balcony looking out over the trees, feels almost like you are in the countryside. I thought it might be noisy being on a fairly main route of of hastings but we really didn't notice much noise, it was really very peaceful! The property is light and airy which was lovely in hot weather we had. It is generally clean and homely. The kitchen had everything we needed and nice to have some tea and coffee for when you first arrive. Great to be provided with some kitchen roll, foil, bin bags, washing up liquid etc as these are always a pain to have to buy just for 1 week! Comfy sofas and good tv reception. We both have bad backs and did find the mattress not great for our backs but this is pretty common issue for us going self catering. The Turkish style bath is a fun addition but I would note that if you are someone who prefers a bath to a shower it's obviously not the most practical bath ha ha. Also, anyone who any issues lifting their legs or with their balance should maybe avoid this property as the bath sides are really quite tall to get in and out off and i did slip on the step getting out and bruise my ankle bone and my partner who has long legs put foot in the sink trying to get out and went hopping around trying not to fall over ha ha eek! The property is on a good bus route down to the sea front/town/train station which was really useful as non drivers although we found the busses fairly expensive compared to where we live, the all day passes are good if you want to use the bus several times a day but otherwise we found taxis nearly the same price for 2 of us. We've been to Hastings many times and will continue to come back as there is so much to do in the area and we find the atmosphere really friendly and welcoming. "

lovingly restored house

"The accomodation is in a calm trough street with a marvalous view in the green of the country park. Its a 20 minutes walk to the old town but there is also a bus stop nearby. Very good ist the parking on the property, the balkony and the kitchen. There is no dishwasher, but for 2 adult persons thats no problem. The house ist lovingly restored by the friendly owners and offers a lot of space. We were very happy with it!"

A perfect romantic retreat

"We were greeted by very helpful owners who were very friendly and accommodating. Had a very relaxing time at an immaculately clean cottage, having everything we needed for a short break. A short walk into the old town, but is a hill on the way back. The cottage was very comfortable to stay in and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

Very nice appartment near centre Hastings

"We had a very nice time in Millenium cottage. It was very clean and all we need was available in the house. Susan and Rod are very kindly hosts. It is a short walk to the centre of Hastings. A busstop is about 50 meter from the house. To London by train is a comfortable trip. We would recommend this property to our friends. "

Lovely, light filled cottage.

"We loved this cottage. It was unique in design with a soaring ceiling and a wall of windowed doors that opened up to a balcony overlooking a vast green space. The kitchen was well appointed, furniture was comfortable and the entire cottage was light filled. The owners, Rod and Susan were on hand to answer any questions and provided lots of sightseeing information. The on-site parking was an added bonus. Highly recommended."

Other Reviews

The owners were very welcoming and happy to help if a problem should arise, even supplied cleaner for the car after diesel being spilt on it at the petrol station. Excellent accommodation. Would definitely book this accommodation again if in the area. Would definitely check out Amberley House Holidays website if travelling to other areas which are in the brochure. Thanks again everyone for a fantastic holiday, the weather helped too”

“Millennium Cottage was all we expected it to be. The property is more than spacious for 2 people and we did not experience any problems with the facilities. On arrival the drive seemed steep but when you got used to it it was fine. It is a good location to explore the locality. We visited Rye, Bodiam Castle, Eastbourne, Birling Gap (which includes Beachy Head and The Seven Sisters). There are a large selection of good eateries in and around Hastings to suit every taste.”

We had a lovely 3 night break at Millennium Cottage. You know you are in a good place when you are welcomed with milk in the fridge, tea bags at the ready and a decent frying pan!
It was a great location to explore Hastings and the surrounding area. Would certainly recommend to others.

The Cottage was beautiful and the owners Sue and Rob had thought of every thing, even down to putting milk and bottled water in fridge ready for us. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very very comfortable and we would definitely stay there again. The location was just right with easy access to local attractions and we came away completely relaxed after our short break.

Millenium Cottage is beautiful and we had a really great stay, thanks!

We enjoyed our stay in Millennium Cottage. It is in an excellent position for exploring East Sussex and Kent. It's proximity to Hastings Country park was a bonus. It is a 20 minute walk to the Old town of Hastings but walking back up the hill does at least use the ice cream calories up! The balcony at the back of the property is a great place for breakfast & coffee. It was lovely listening to the birdsong despite being in a built up area. We would recommend this cottage.

Stay in this spacious, romantic holiday apartment for two, close to Hastings Old Town

You enter the apartment into a spacious hallway. Off the hallway, there is a utility room with room to store bicycles should you wish to bring them with you. The bathroom is on the lower level and has an unusual Turkish style, tiled, deep bath, ample room for two, and also a wall mounted shower attachment over the bath.

The main living area is upstairs. The exposed beams, high ceilings and glass bi-folding doors to the balcony, give this space a light and airy feel. The open plan has a modern, fitted kitchen, a dining area and a cosy lounge with a gas fire as a focal point. The wow factor with Millennium cottage is the balcony, that stretches the full length of the rear of the property and has views towards the ‘Firehills’ and surrounding properties. Here you can sit and enjoy an early morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening, as the lights are slowly switched on and the stars twinkle above.

The bedroom is off the lounge and has everything to make your stay comfortable, with a separate WC and hand basin.

Guests have access to the summer house at the end of the garden, which is secluded and tranquil.

Hastings and beyond

Millennium cottage is about a twenty minute stroll to Hastings Old Town, it is located in an elevated position, so the walk into town is a little harder on the return journey. There is a bus route that drops you within minutes of the property if you wish to make the return journey easier. There is a local shop just 5 minutes away and a good choice of supermarkets all within a 15 minute car journey.

The apartment is in the perfect position for walkers wishing to explore the Firehills and Hastings Country Park, all within easy walking distance.

Hastings Old Town is picturesque and quaint, with a mixture of antique shops, boutiques and cafes. The town is famous for the biggest beach fishing fleet in Europe and much of the tradition has been kept. The net drying huts and fishing fleet can be found on the beach today, along with the many fresh fish stalls. The recently opened Jerwood Gallery is found close by and The Shipwreck and Coastal Heritage Museum is worth a visit.

The Hastings Country Park is over 267 hectares of ancient woodland, heathland and grassland together with three miles (5km) of dramatic cliffs and coastline. Lying within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is a designated Local Nature Reserve.

You are of course in 1066 Country and with that comes, Castles, National Trust Gardens and Grand Houses, plenty to visit during your stay but too many for me to list. Please visit our 'Places to Visit' for East Sussex to learn more.
