Arriving

Sea Pinks is a 17th century cottage with lots of charm and character situated just moments from the beautiful beaches of Selsey Bill.

On arriving the cottage you will notice immediately one of the character quirks with the stone tide wall in front of the property which leads to the lawned front garden and a lovely wooden bench to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun. The entrance hallway is bright and welcoming and leads to lounge area which, at its heart, has a lovely woodburning stove (an initial fuel supply is provided in the winter months). There is a large corner sofa for relaxing in the evenings and watching the Freeview television or a DVD. The rustic dining table is perfect for your meals but can also serve as a great spot to start a family competition over a classic board game.

The country style kitchen is warm and welcoming and has all of the modern amenities you would expect including a oven/hob, fridge and washing machine. From here, you can access the lovely rear garden which is a great spot to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the sounds of the sea and the sea birds in the evening.

On the first floor, there are three good sized bedrooms. The light and airy principal bedroom has a king size bed and overlooks the rear garden. The second room has a double bed as well as a useful additional handbasin. The third bedroom is ideal for younger guests with two single beds and a charming nautical feel. The family bathroom has a full bath with a shower attachment overhead , wc and basin.

There is parking available at the front of the cottage. Please note that due to the period nature of the property there are some low doorways, uneven floors and a fairly steep staircase which makes this property unsuitable for children under 5.

Selsey and beyond

Sea Pinks is situated perfectly between the town and the beach in Selsey. The East Beach is closest to the cottage and, from here, you can walk to the bird reserves at Pagham Harbour, which is an internationally important site for nature conservation.

The beaches in the area are some of the best in Sussex and perfect for a family vacation enjoying all coastal activities such as swimming, sailing or just strolling along the impressive sea front. Of course a trip here wouldn't be complete without a trying the famous local delicacy, Selsey Crab! Heading west and you soon reach the resorts of Bracklesham Bay and the Witterings which are both worth exploring during your holiday.

If a day on the greens is something you enjoy then you would be hard pressed to find a better location than the Selsey Golf Club. With views of the South Downs as a back drop, and situated next to the coast, this is truly a beautiful but testing 9-hole links type course.

Eight miles to the north of Selsey, Chichester is the cathedral city of Sussex headed by the towering presence of the cathedral. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings. The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle.

Chichester Harbour is also well worth a visit, as an area of outstanding natural beauty it has a plethora of wildlife which shares this delightful area with the sailing activity that abounds. The harbour is made up of a series of tidal creeks and Bosham is probably the best known of the quayside villages and offers much of interest. Bosham is always bustling and is a joy to visit.

Under ten miles away is the setting for the Goodwood Estate where you can enjoy the premier motorsport events as well as Glorious Goodwood racing festival. Or, of course, you can explore the wonders Goodwood House which combines the glamour of a great English country house with the warmth of a family home. Home to the Earl and Countess of March this elegant Sussex house provides a dramatic setting for one of the most significant private art collections in the country.
