Holiday cottage, South Mundham, West Sussex
Nice short break
"Enjoyed our long weekend at Fisher Dairy, it's in a great rural location with lovely walks from the doorstep but also close to town. We had a dog with us and the enclosed garden was perfect. Beds were fantastic...extremely comfortable, though better bedside/reading lighting would have been nice. Kitchen was fairly well equipped but missing some basics like a baking tray which we needed to heat up the ready meals we had brought with us! Could do with a more comfortable sofa too! So, a few little niggles, but overall a nice, well maintained property and a very enjoyable stay overall."
Good cottage to take dogs
"Comfortable cottage in a very quiet location. Excellent base for walking and cycling. The secure enclosed garden is a real bonus for dogs."
"We spent a lovely Christmas in The Fisher Dairy, the owners had even provided a real Christmas tree. We felt very much at home. The owners live next door and are very friendly, helpful and approachable, The cottage is finished to a very high standard in a lovely location. It has everything you need for a great holiday. The garden is enclosed, which is great as dogs are allowed too. Would highly recommend."
A good weeks holiday
"We had a lovely stay at Fisher Dairy, friendly hosts and spotlessly clean. Particular highlights were being able to walk from the door, bird watching at Pagham Harbour and East Head at West Wittering which is a lovely spot (helped by the unexpectedly good weather!). The only downsides were a few basics missing from the kitchen like no baking trays or a measuring jug which I think are essential for a self catering holiday. The other downside were the sofas- as 3 quite tall individuals with bad backs they were too low for us but as I say we all have bad backs! "
Enjoy the drive along beautiful and quiet rural lanes to the Fisher Dairy, a clever conversion of a single storey barn on a working beef farm. The farm is surrounded by open farmland just a couple of miles to the north of Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve offering great walks and cycling along the lanes, bridleways and footpaths of this delightful area.
Located next to the owners’ own converted barn it offers modern and comfortable accommodation in a traditional building. With underfloor heating throughout and a woodburning stove it is a cosy proposition. There are two bedrooms one fitted with a super king sized bed and the other a king sized bed. Both beds are zip linked however so can be configured as twin bedrooms if need be. There is the one bathroom which is fitted with a shower bath.
The kitchen which combines with the living space is comprehensively equipped and the large farmhouse table makes a great space for families. Behind the Dairy there is a small garden that looks directly onto the farm.
South Mundham is just a small hamlet amongst the most glorious open farmland. However its location is certainly not remote since The Fisher Dairy is perfect for both Chichester and the Goodwood events being just two and a half miles outside the city centre. Located due south of Chichester, it is barely two miles across open fields to Pagham Harbour and is also close to Chichester Harbour.
This part of the coastline is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife with Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour both being areas of outstanding natural beauty. The walk south to Pagham offers wonderful countryside views and much tranquility.
Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor, Bosham, and Dell Quay. Between these harbours there are beaches at Selsey and the Witterings, the latter offering unrivalled views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
Chichester the cathedral city of Sussex has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.
The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre production, many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.
