A fun, rustic barn set within the heart of Sussex; perfect for families or groups wishing to explore this area which offers many activities and attractions on the doorstep

The Timber Store is a great space, set in a beautiful countryside setting, and a fantastic base to explore this area of Sussex. The main living area is a grand open space with a large dining table perfect for celebratory meals or a gathering before setting out for the days' activities. There are also sofas available in this area for relaxing after dinner.

The kitchen has another large table; a perfect spot for a hearty breakfast before heading out to the countryside. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need for your break including an oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher. The washing machine is housed in a separate laundry room on the ground floor.

The sleeping accommodation consists of one large room with six large single beds with its own small seating area with a television and couch. The en suite bathroom has a full stand alone bath and a basin. Further up a small staircase, and you reach the 'oriental' double bedroom tucked away in its own area.

Moving downstairs, there is spacious bedroom with a double bed and single four-poster bed. There are two shower rooms and two separate WC's also available on this ground floor

The fabulous garden area is accessed from the living area and is a wonderful space to enjoy the surroundings and wildlife whilst trying your hand at some alfresco cooking in the BBQ pit!

The River Rother passes close to The Timber Store and offers half a mile of private fishing and along its banks you have easy access to the start of the Rother Valley Walk and a network of footpaths that criss cross the surrounding South Downs countryside

If you have a larger party, then it is possible to book both House on the Brooks and Mill House on the Brooks which are close by.

Hardham and beyond

The Timber Store is perfectly positioned within the South Downs National Park and is therefore ideal to enjoy many excellent walks in the local area or even the immediate wetland. The wildflower meadows are stunning when in bloom and captivating when underwater in the winter.

The Timber Store is perfectly positioned within the South Downs National Park and is therefore ideal to enjoy many excellent walks in the local area or even the immediate wetland. The wildflower meadows are stunning when in bloom and captivating when underwater in the winter.

Also nearby is the West Sussex Golf Club, one of three in the close area, which is regularly judged one of the outstanding inland courses in Britain with a priceless oasis of heather, sand, heath and trees beneath the Sussex Downs. For any golf lover, staying at The Timber Store is very convenient indeed.

This area of West Sussex has a variety of events that occur through the year from Goodwood racing and the Goodwood motorsport meetings, to the Arundel Festival, racing at Fontwell and polo at Cowdray. Details on all of these are found under our What's On heading.

Arundel is certainly worth a trip, a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tea rooms. It's a great place to wander and just enjoy the streets lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings.

Chichester, the cathedral city of Sussex, is a thirty minute drive away and is a great destination for a day trip as the city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, making it compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre production, many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene.

If a day on the beach is on the cards then local beaches such as Clymping and Littlehampton are just a short drive away, while the stunning Blue Flag beaches at West Wittering are reachable within half an hour.
